Community Safety Zones
April 16th, 2007

Councillor O’Connell along with Councillor McLean, brought forth a Motion asking Council to draft a by-law deeming all arterial roads adjacent to schools in the City of Pickering to be designated a Community Safety Zone. Community Safety Zones are areas where fines for speeding are doubled. Councillor O’Connell also asked for more police presence and enforcement during school hours. “The safety of children is a priority to me and I feel the creation of Community Safety Zones around schools is the first step to making our streets safer.” This Motion was carried.
